During the final months of our family member’s life, we made missteps and sometimes fell short in our efforts to honor her by ensuring her final days on Earth were as comfortable as possible. That is why we wanted to hold a celebration of life service that fully respected the innate goodness of our loved one, that honored her life of struggle and the selfless way in which she lived. Maria did all of that and more.
Through hours of listening, and many more hours of writing, Maria was able to craft a story of our loved one that described her essence and what she had been through and overcome in her life. While we had thousands of experiences with our loved one during her lifetime, in our hour of grief, those experiences were challenging to properly articulate — they all seemed to meld together. Maria was able to help us find special moments that were hidden in the recesses of our minds and use them in her remarks. When we weren’t able to provide the most complete description of an event, Maria somehow filled it in.
She did a number of other amazing things, too. She rolled with the flow when something unexpected happened during the service and handled it compassionately and professionally. She also added a beautiful extra touch to the service that helped show the generations of family members in attendance how we were all connected to our loved one. Most of all, she created a service that was tailored to the unique needs of our family. We wanted a positive celebration of life service that adhered to the traditions of our loved one’s deep and abiding faith but that also kept the focus on her. Maria found the right balance.
I am so thankful that Maria was recommenced to us and that she was available to perform this service honoring our family matriarch. My only regret is that Maria and our loved one were unable to meet. She would’ve adored Maria.
I want to take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude on behalf of my family for your services as Celebrant for Dad’s service, Jimmy Smith. Fate really works in marvelous ways. My brother, sister, and I all
commented about how so many things stood out–your military connection, your own father’s love of landscaping, etc.
Your touch was so compassionate and personal. In particular, I loved the research you did on the USS Ammen. You had details in the service that I had not given you, so your thorough research stood out. And I also loved the Flag Ceremony at graveside. It was solemn and perfect. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for being there for my family.
“I really appreciate you working with me and writing such a beautiful eulogy for Dennis! When emotions are high, it is so difficult to think of what to include in the eulogy, but, you were able to capture Dennis’ spirit. You presented it in such a way that made everyone laugh and appreciate Dennis’ sense of humor and personality. I am so glad you were able to do this for me and recommend that others use your services. Thank you so much for everything.” ~In Honor of Dennis Holzhauser
Words cannot express my gratitude for what you did for my family. My mom would have liked you very much and I think she would have been very happy that you came into our lives to help her in the journey home. I will never forget you and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. ~In memory of Glenda Clay.
Maria and I have worked together for a number of years and trained as celebrants together. She does amazing services for her families and I highly recommend her. She will make a life celebration memorable.
Maria is the perfect person to assist withyour loved one’s service. She is the most caring empathetic person I have ever met and has a way with people.
Maria did an incredible job at my Dad’s funeral … she is truly a caring and sensitive person.
We are more grateful than words can show. Thank you for the celebrant service. It was very well done by you. We appreciate everything you did. ~In memory of Kathy Venable.
Our family would like to tell you how grateful we all are for your eulogy. We feel like you did catch the spirit of our mother in a wonderful way. We feel like you gave everyone a glance of the true Judy Venable. Thanks for the call and thought you put into the services!
My family would like to thank you for everything you did to help us during the loss of my mother, Sarah Wallace-King. You went above and beyond the night before the funeral. Few people are as dedicated to helping like that. Even though it is “your job,” you do it with compassion and dedication that is rare to see.
I was at Pinecrest for a Graveside Service. Everything was great! It was so professional and courteous. I want to thank you for a job well done.
“Maria did an amazing job for me. I would personally recommend her because she can effectively communicate through her writing.”
Maria is extremely devoted to ensuring that the ceremonies she writes for her families are written with compassion and from the heart. She pays close attention to all the fine details that make the service very personal and memorable. I would highly recommend her services.
“I am very pleased with Maria’s services. She is not only a great listener but she is an articulate writer.”
